Social Chakras is a Social Media Management Services company that has been conceptualised and founded by Varinder Taprial (CEO) in October 2011. The name of the company, it’s underlying philosophy and it’s logo were all conceived, visualised and designed based on the theme of the seven chakras in our human body that originated in our Hindu texts and are featured in the tantric and yogic traditions of Hinduism and Budhism.
The seven chakras is a concept that refers to wheel-like vortices, which are believed to exist in the surface of the subtle body of living beings. These chakras are said to be the “force centres” of energy permeating from different points on the human body and are also considered to be the focal points for the reception and transmission of energies.
Our Concept & Philosophy
As mentioned above, the seven chakras are considered to be the windows to the soul, the focal points of the life force; their individual states being vital to one’s holistic well-being. These seven chakras play an important role in self-realization and deeper states of consciousness. The more informed and aware one is about the state of the individual chakras and how to keep them functioning properly, the healthier and happier a person will be. The picture here depicts the location of the seven chakras along the central nadi or spine starting from the “crown” and ending at the “base/root” of a human being.
We have related these seven chakras and it’s underlying philosophy towards the holistic health and well being of an individual to our social media management services in order to provide a holistic approach to the well being of a business. Thus according to us, the seven chakras are basically the seven elements that are the “windows to the soul of a business” (it’s customers) and the study and effective management of these elements, called “Social Chakras” is vital as they are the focal points for the reception and transmission of energies in the business world.
Thus the seven Social Chakras helps one to understand the state of the social media with respect to a business and make them aware of how customers, both existing and prospective, perceive the business/brand/product/service. The more aware and informed the business owners are, the better positioned they will be to take necessary actions to preserve and enhance the business.
The Social Chakras
The seven colours of the rainbow depict the seven human chakras that are the windows to our soul; similarly the same seven colours, VIBGYOR, also significantly represent the Social Chakras. In the picture below, the seven human chakras are shown in their respective colours, starting from the extreme right is the first crown chakra in Violet called Sahasrara followed by all the rest.

When we relate these individual chakras along with their colour and their specific functions to the seven Social Chakras, we derive the following as related to the business world and its social media:
 |
(Violet) V – Visibility: The first is the Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) that links your business with the rest of the world. In the olden days people used the market square for making important public announcements, which later translated on to billboards and finally evolved to other sophisticated advertising media forms like radio and TV. These were all just different ways to be visible. Since today most of the customers are online, businesses need to increase their visibility and presence online in order to maximise their reach. Therefore, we believe that the stronger your visibility is online, the better it is for your business. |
 |
(Indigo) I – Interaction: The second is the brow chakra (Ajana or third eye), which deals with consciousness and clarity. Businesses have forever tried to understand what their customers want and how they think in order to serve to their needs better and also to get better returns themselves. Social media provides an excellent opportunity for businesses to connect with their customers, get feedback and know them better. Therefore, the stronger your interaction with your customer, the more conscious you will be of their requirements and their experience with your business. |
 |
(Blue) B – Branding: The third is the throat chakra (vishuddha), which relates to communication and growth through expression. Thus, in the business world, the brand becomes the voice of the business and it communicates what your business offers and delivers in terms of value and quality. Customers make their decisions depending on how they perceive a brand. Therefore, the stronger your brand, the more successful your business will be. |
 |
(Green) G – Generation of Trust: The fourth is the heart chakra (anahata), which deals with complex emotions like compassion, passion, equilibrium and devotion. These are all essential elements for generating trust in a business and building loyalty within its existing customers. It is our strong belief that the more the people trust you, the more they are loyal and likely to spread the good word to others. |
 |
(Yellow) Y – Your Voice: The fifth is the solar plexus chakra (manipura) that relates to personal power, expansiveness, and all matters of growth, which in other words, is your true identity. You as the business owner are the face of the business. People no longer trust marketing jargon and faceless businesses. People like to deal with people, not press releases and brochures. Thus, the stronger your identity on the social media, the more is the likelihood of people relating to you and supporting you in your endeavours. |
 |
(Orange) O – Openness: The sixth is the sacral chakra (swadhisthana), which relates to relationships, friendliness, creativity, emotions and intuition. Transparency and openness is the key for people to put their faith in the business. We strongly believe that in order to generate trust and have a good relationship with customers, it’s very important for businesses to be transparent and show openness to be successful. Thus, a high transparency tends to get people to have confidence in the honesty and integrity of the business. |
 |
(Red) R – Reputation: The seventh is the root chakra (muladhara), which relates to security, survival and stability, in other words something that your reputation can provide or snatch away from you. Reputation is a business’s biggest asset and in today’s fiercely competitive markets customers prefer to deal with businesses with good reputation and these same customers will influence others too. Therefore, it goes without saying that if you build and maintain a good reputation people will flock to your business. Remember, it takes years to build reputation and a few moments for it to be destroyed. |
Our Logo
Our logo (hexagon with seven coloured circles) depicts the social media with the seven social chakras. The sides and the diagonals of the hexagon represent the networking & connectivity facilitated by the social media, and the seven coloured circles represent the seven Social Chakras strategically located at centre and the vertices of the hexagon, to signify their importance in understanding the status of the social media. The colours of the rainbow (VIBGYOR) represent the Social Chakras same as they do the Human Chakras. The six vertices and the central point of the hexagon are the focal points for the reception and transmission of energies in the business world. Therefore, the seven social chakras, in context to social media management that need to be addressed and managed effectively are: Visibility, Interaction, Branding, Generation of trust, Your voice, Openness and Reputation respectively where Visibility (V) represents the central circle. According to us, these social chakras are the “Windows to the soul of your business”.
